Air Navigation
Welcome to Air Navigation !
Air Navigation is a flight information system. Using the GPS receiver and accelerometers of the iPhone it can emulate different type of real navigation devices.
Air Navigation exists in 3 versions :
Air Navigation Free
1.5.0
iTunes link
- a VOR-DME simulator and its related CDIs (Course Deviation Indicator). Unlike a real VOR, you can select any waypoint from the embedded database NDB's etc. Furthermore you don't loose signal when the VOR is hidden behind a mountain or flying too low.
- an ADF
- a Gyro compass
- An embedded worldwide database with more than 11000 navigation waypoints and 26000 airfields.
- Slip indicators in every instrument view
Air Navigation Standard
1.5.0

- a Synthetic moving map displaying nearby navigation waypoints and airfields. Zoom in and out with 2 finger gestures. Pan, center, switch between day and night mode. Airfield are displayed with direction of main runway. A "direct to waypoint" function draw a red vector on the map (great circle / shortest path on earth).
- Airspaces are displayed on overlay. Airspace are filtered by altitude and displayed if your current GPS altitude is +/- feet from airspace. It is also possible to select which airspace catergories are displayed. Currently airspace data is available for Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy (more to come in the future releases)
- an HSI emulated using the iPhone GPS. Can select any waypoint from the embedded database including airfields, NDB's, your custom waypoints, etc.
- 2 VOR-DME emulated using the iPhone GPS and their related CDIs (Course Deviation Indicator). Unlike a real VOR, you can select any waypoint from the embedded database including airfields, NDB's, your custom waypoints, etc. Furthermore you don't loose signal when the VOR is hidden behind a mountain or flying too low.
- an ADF emulated using the iPhone GPS (ADF works only when moving at 10 kts or faster)
- a Gyro compass emulated using the iPhone GPS (Compass works only when moving at 10 kts or faster)
- An altimeter in feet or meters, emulated using the GPS altitude
- Slip indicators in every instrument view using the iPhone accelerometers
- A waypoint editor the enter your custom navigation points, airfields, navaids, fix and related information
- A basic logbook to store flights time with block-off, take-off, landing, block-on and computation of total time and true flight time
- An embedded worldwide database with more than 11000 navigation waypoints and 26000 airfields. Database includes frequency and channels for most waypoints
- Customizable cockpit
Air Navigation Pro
2.6.0

- a Synthetic moving map displaying nearby navigation waypoints and airfields. Zoom in and out with 2 finger gestures. Pan, center, switch between day and night mode. Airfield are displayed with direction of main runway. A "direct to waypoint" function draw a red vector on the map (great circle / shortest path on earth). The map can be displayed with track orientation or north orientation.
- Airspaces are displayed on overlay. Airspace are filtered by altitude and displayed if your current GPS altitude is +/- feet from airspace. It is also possible to select which airspace catergories are displayed. Currently airspace data is available for USA, Belgium, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, South Africa, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy (more to come in the future releases)
- Multileg navigation flight plan editor with graphical input of waypoints from map or waypoint database.
- Flight plan can be displayed on map view as vectors. Next waypoint distance and estimated time will be displayed as an overlay.
- "Active navigation plan" module, display legs information of currently selected navigation plan and can be displayed in the main tab aside of the map. It is possible to edit the wind and aircraft speed information directly from this module to compute legs eet and heading.
- Terrain features, roads and cities data can be downloaded from the internet (wifi connection required) and cached for use in-flight and displayed in the map view.
- an HSI emulated using the iPhone GPS. Can select any waypoint from the embedded database including airfields, NDB's, your custom waypoints, etc.
